AV for Referendums? Under no circumstances!!
Submitted by Edinburgh on Thu, 27/10/2011 - 22:52AV (the Alternative Vote) should NEVER be used to decide among policy options offered in a referendum. Why not? Because the policy option that has the greatest overall support could well be rejected in an AV count.

Pointless Primaries
Submitted by Edinburgh on Sun, 30/08/2009 - 23:06The Conservatives' "experiment" with a primary election in Totnes attracted a lot of media coverage. But the media don't seem to realise it was a very clever smokescreen.

Here's what I wrote in reply:

PR voting and the BNP
Submitted by Edinburgh on Sat, 13/06/2009 - 21:06Newspaper commentators, bloggers around the world, and anti-PR campaigners of every hue have rushed into print with shock-horror stories claiming the success of the BNP in the recent elections to the European Parliament was all down to the PR voting system. "All would have been well if only we had used First-Past-The-Post".
